Flat welding flange, also known as lap welding flange. The connection between flat welding flange and pipe is to first insert the pipe into the flange hole to the appropriate position, and then overlap welding. Its advantage is that it is easy to align during welding assembly, and it is cheap, so it has been widely used.
According to internal pressure calculation, the strength of flat welding flanges is about two-thirds of that of corresponding butt welding flanges, and the fatigue life is about one-third of that of butt welding flanges. Therefore, flat welding flanges are only suitable for pipeline systems with relatively low pressure levels and less severe pressure fluctuations, vibrations, and expansion.
Flat welding flanges can be further divided into two types: necked flat welding and plate flat welding.
